Birth: South Lakes Wild Animal Park

White-Fronted Brown Lemur twins have been born, the first babies of this species at the Park.

More baby Ring-Tailed Lemurs have been born, making a total of 12 this year.

Two more Grey Kangaroo joeys born, making 8 this year.

Three Red Kangaroo joeys have been born.

Two more White-Fronted Wallaby joeys born, making 12 this year.

Two Agile Rock Wallaby joeys born.

Two Brush-Tailed Rock Wallaby joeys born.

Two Tawny Frogmouth chicks have hatched. Produced by different mothers, Rita and Tig, in separate enclosures, but laid on the same day after a particularly wet weekend, the chicks have been named Thunder and Storm.

Two female European Brown Bears have arrived from Greece to join the existing female Yoghi. The new arrivals are 3-year-old sisters, called Athina and Fivi.

A baby Fossa cub has been born, the first at the zoo. A type of Mongoose, the Fossa is Madagascar's largest carnivore and resembles an elongated cat in appearance. With less than 2,500 left in the wild, the species is classified as Endangered and is the subject of a managed breeding programme. There are only about 100 in zoos worldwide, and only 5 other zoos in the UK have them.

A young Kinkajou called Sparky has arrived, from a private collection where it was hand-reared following its birth in September 2006. Kinkajous are natives of the South American forests, and are under threat from hunting and habitat destruction.

Arrival: Dudley Zoological Gardens

Following the departure of her children, Sarah the Sumatran Tiger has been swapped with Raika from London Zoo. London Zoo had a genetically important pair of Tigers, but they have never bred, while the pair at Dudley have bred successfully but are no longer genetically important to the species because their children have also started breeding. The two females, who are of similar ages, have therefore been swapped in the hope that two new breeding pairs will be formed.

A female Toco Toucan has arrived from Chessington wildlife Park, and will go on show once has has completed quarantine procedures. A male Red Jungle Fowl and a Female Azure Winged Magpie have also arrived from Chessington, on breeding loan.

A female Snow Leopard called Tangra has arrived from Nordens Ark, Sweden to join Olympus the existing male. This follows the death of Nanga from renal failure earlier this year.
