Here at Zoos-UK.com you will find details of visitor attractions in the UK where you can see collections of living animals. This includes:

  • Zoos and Wildlife Parks
  • Safari Parks
  • Aviaries, Bird Parks and Falconry Centres
  • Butterfly and Insect Parks
  • Aquariums and Sea Life Centres
  • Horse Centres and Donkey Sanctuaries
  • Farm Animal and Rare Breeds Centres
  • Wildlife Reserves (those with facilities like a conventional visitor attraction)

Using the information about each attraction from this site, you can easily plan your perfect day out with animals. Enter our free quarterly draw, and you could even win a day out for your family at the zoo (or other attraction) of your choice!

Find an Attraction

Although there is no direct search facility, the attractions listed on this site are organised by attraction type, region in which they are located, or simply by name, so you can find a suitable attraction with only a few mouse clicks, whether you are looking for a particular type of attraction, an attraction in a specific area, or want to find out about an attraction you already know the name of. The 'Find a Zoo' tab at the top of each page of this site provides the starting point for your searches, or the buttons on the left provide short cuts to the specific types of directories.

Certain attractions also have significant collections of animals of types that do not fall within their main theme. Where this is the case, these attractions will appear in all of the relevant attraction type categories.

The regional attraction directories are based on the county in which each attraction is located. Except for Northern Ireland, each region category also includes attractions in adjacent counties, so that if you are looking for an attraction in the vicinity of a region border, you do not have to look in the directory pages for both regions.

While every attempt has been made to compile a complete list of animal-related attractions in the UK, it is possible that one or two may be missing. If you know of a suitable attraction that is not listed on this site, please contact us with details, especially if you are involved with the running of that attraction. Please also let us know if you discover any errors in the information given on this site.

Places to Eat and Stay

After you have chosen which attraction to visit, why not complete your day out with a meal at a nearby restaurant, pub, or other eating place, or, if your are travelling from further afield, stay the night at a nearby hotel, or other form of accommodation? Details are given of a selection of eating places and places to stay that are located close to each attraction, including instructions for how to get there from that attraction.

If you own, or run, a place to eat or a place to stay located close to one (or more) of the attractions listed on this site, and would like to encourage visitors to that attraction to also visit your establishment, then see the 'Advertise Here' page for further details.

News from the Zoos

We have compiled a series of news reports covering developments at our listed attractions, at least for those that publish such information. Our reports are mainly concerned with changes to their animal collections, such as births, arrivals, departures, deaths, and significant enclosure changes, but other major changes to visitor facilities may also be included.

These reports are organised into chronological archives, both across all attractions, in our Zoo News section, and for each attraction, linked from the attraction's details page. The most recent reports are also included on the attractions' details pages, and in an overall Latest News page.

To get this feature going, we have included news reports back to the beginning of 2006, where information is available; not all attractions that publish news information provide news archives that go back this far. We aim to check for new news reports on an approximately monthly basis, and new reports will also be included in our regular newsletter.

Zoos-UK Store

Photo Collections

Our store features an exclusive range of collections of photos of animals, optimised for use as background 'wallpaper' for your PC desktop, and for use in screen saver slide shows. Our collections are available for immediate download, or for delivery by post on CD or DVD ROM.

Please visit our Store to find out what we have to offer.

Books and DVDs

Our store also features a wide range of books and DVDs about or featuring animals. This part of our store is provided in association with Amazon.co.uk, who will perform all of the processing and fulfillment of your orders. We have selected a large number of items from Amazon's vast range, and organised them into categories for ease of browsing. Further items are added regularly, both to accommodate new releases, and to fill in any gaps in our existing selection.

Please visit this part of our Store, and browse the categories to see what we have available for you to buy. Note that, because your order will be handled entirely by Amazon.co.uk, all queries about it should be directed to them; we will be unable to help you. If, however, you have any suggestions that would help us to improve our store, you are welcome to contact us.

What's New at Zoos-UK.com

Zoos-UK.com is a relatively new website, and the directories are not yet complete. At present only the sections for zoos, safari, bird, and butterfly parks, have been implemented. The other sections should be added in the near future. If you know of an attraction that should be included in our directories, but isn't, please contact us with details, especially if you can provided authoritative information.

As well as completing the directories, we have many other exciting new features planned for this site. See our What's New page for a summary of recent developments, and subscribe to our newsletter to allow us to keep you informed of future developments, or bookmark this page and come back frequently to see the results - or both!.
