Animal Attractions

Welcome to Zoos-UK.com. Here you will find details of visitor attractions in the UK where you can see collections of living animals. At present, this includes:

  • Zoos and Wildlife Parks
  • Safari Parks
  • Aviaries, Bird Parks and Falconry Centres
  • Butterfly and Insect Parks
  • Farm Animal and Rare Breeds Centres

Other types of attractions are also planned for addition in the near future, including:

  • Aquariums and Sea Life Centres
  • Horse Centres and Donkey Sanctuaries
  • Wildlife Reserves (those with facilities like a conventional visitor attraction)

In many places throughout this site we will use the term 'zoo' to mean any of these attraction types.

In addition to providing admission details for each attraction, including an indication of visitor facilities and full directions for how to get there, we also give details, from our advertisers, of nearby places to eat or stay, to help you to complete your perfect day out with animals.

All of this information is only a few mouse clicks away; our attractions directories are organised by attraction type, geographical location, or simply by name, so that you can easily find an attraction for your day out.

News from the Zoos

Here at Zoos-UK.com we also like to keep you up to date with developments at the attractions in our directories, particularly with regard to changes to their animal collections, such as births, arrivals, departures, and deaths. We therefore include the latest news reports on each attraction details page, together with news archive pages for each attraction (for those attractions that publish such information).

Our Zoo News section also provides latest news and archive pages across all attractions. News reports are also included in our monthly newsletter.

Zoos-UK Store

Our store features an exclusive range of collections of animal photos, optimised for use as desktop background 'wallpaper' or in screen saver slide shows, together with a wide range of books and DVDs about or featuring animals.

The books and DVDs are provided in association with Amazon.co.uk, who will perform all of the processing and fulfillment of your orders. We have selected a large number of items from Amazon's vast range, and organised them into categories for ease of browsing.

Please visit our Store to see what we have available for you to buy.

What's New at Zoos-UK.com

Zoos-UK.com is a relatively new website, and, as indicated above, the directories are not yet complete; further sections should be added in the near future. If you know of an attraction that should be included in our directories, but isn't, please contact us with details, particularly if you can provided authoritative information.

As well as completing the directories, we have many other exciting new features planned for this site. See our What's New page for a summary of recent developments, and subscribe to our newsletter to allow us to keep you informed of future developments, or bookmark this page and come back frequently to see the results - or both!.

Advertise on Zoos-UK.com

If you own, or run, a place to eat or a place to stay located close to one (or more) of the attractions listed on this site, and would like to encourage visitors to that attraction to also visit your establishment, then see the 'Advertise Here' page for further details of our standard advertising packages. We also have opportunities for other types of advertising elsewhere on this site.

Conservation

Many species of wild animals are in danger of complete extinction. This is usually due to loss of habitat as a result of human expansion, or it could be due to excessive hunting or competition from human-introduced species. Species under threat include many large, well- known animals such as gorillas, rhinoceros, tigers, and certain types of lion, as well as thousands of smaller, more obscure species.

A good, modern, zoo (or equivalent organisation) has a valuable role to play in assisting with the protection of such endangered species. This is both through education of the general public in the importance of conservation in general, and through carefully managed breeding programmes to increase the population of endangered species, at least in captivity, often with the ultimate aim of reintroduction into the wild. Many zoos also help to raise funds and assist with expert knowledge for in situ conservation activities.

Much of the work of such zoos is funded directly by the admission fees charged to visitors. Therefore, by simply visiting the zoo, you will be helping with its vital conservation work, as well as having a great day out.

This website is funded primarily by advertising from the eating and accommodation establishments shown on each attraction details page. We do not charge the attractions for inclusion in our directories. In addition to helping to promote the attractions, and hence their valuable conservation work, we will also donate three percent of all income to this site to a selection of wildlife conservation charities. Our donations will be divided equally between the following charities:

WWF-UK

RSPB

Butterfly Conservation

David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation

Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society

If you would like to make your own contribution to any of these charities, then please follow the links above. These links will open in a new window.
