Three young Emus have arrived from Cricket St. Thomas, along with an egg that has now hatched (on 6 May). The baby has been named Humbug. |

The pair of rare Owston's Civet cats from Vietnam have given birth to twins, the first to be born outside of Vietnam. |

`The Colonel', a large elderly cockerel, has sadly passed away, of old age. `Madam' a young female North American Otter has also died suddenly. She had recently given birth to three healthy cubs that are now being cared for by the keepers. The autopsy revealed that she died from a lung infection of unknown origin. |

The pair of Great Indian Hornbills are now back in their enclosure in the Walled Garden. The height of their aviary has been increased, which may help to stimulate breeding activity. |

Four Meerkat kittens, 3 males and 1 female, have been born. Although one of the least threatened of the mongoose family, the Meerkats are helping the development of husbandry methods for saving more seriously threatened species such as the Narrow-striped Mongoose from Madagascar. |

A pair of Garganey, a species of duck, have arrived on Mizzy Lake. Small numbers migrate to the UK from Africa to breed, and usually return to Africa in October. |

Four baby Komodo Dragons have hatched. Sungai, their mother, arrived from Thoiry Zoo, France, in early 2005, and laid her eggs in August. |

Another Rhino calf, a bull, has been born. Mother Meru and her son are both doing well. Binta, who was born in November, is now getting out and about on Safari Drive with her mum Piglet. |
