Birth: February 2010

An African White-Backed Vulture chick called Picardi has hatched.

Great Bustards have arrived, to take up residence in the UK's only Great Bustard aviary.

Arrival: January 2007

Twenty African vultures, of three different species (African White-backed, Hooded, and White-headed) have arrived from Rome Zoo, following the interception by Italian authorities of an illegal consignment of 260 vultures. The UK (and the Hawk Conservancy in particular) is the first foreign country to be selected to take some of these birds out of Italy as part of the re-homing programme by CITES and EAZA. Rome Zoo has been looking after the birds until new homes are found for them across Europe.
