A pair of Jaguars has arrived. Saka, the male, was born in May 2009 at Le Parc des Felins, France. Bonita, the female, was born in November 2009 at Saarbrucken Zoo, Germany. |

A Rockhopper Penguin chick has hatched, the first for parents Rita and Raef. The chick is being reared by keepers, after it made a habit of wandering into the nests of the Humboldt Penguins and thus risked being pecked. |

Bintang, a male Sumatran Tiger who was born last year, has moved to Doue La Fontaine Zoo in Samaur, France, as part of the European breeding programme. |

Two male Malayan Sun Bears have arrived on long term breeding loan from the Phnom Tamao Wildlife Rescue Centre in Cambodia. Called Rotana and Somnang, the bears are brothers and were rescued from a private owner in 2004. They are thought to be about 7 years old. This is the smallest of the bear species, and is classed as Vulnerable, being under threat from the illegal wildlife trade, hunting and habitat loss. |

Barnaby the Barn Owl has sadly died following a short illness. At 20 years old he had reached a good age, and had been a regular feature of the Free Flying Bird Show until he became ill. |
