A pair of Sun (or Honey) Bears have arrived from the Rare Species Conservation Centre. Srey-Ya, the female, and Jo-Jo, the male, were confiscated as young cubs by the Cambodian government in 2007 and 2008, respectively, and then came to the RSCC to become the only Sun Bears to be housed in Britain for 30 years; they are still the only Sun Bears in England. |

A frog of an as yet unidentified species from the Ivory Coast (Africa) has arrived, having stowed away in a box of bananas before being discovered by a market fruit and veg. stall in Cambridge. |

A female Sumatran Tiger cub called Kadi has been born, the first at the park, to parents Alisha and Padang. Great news for this Critically Endangered species; with only around 350 left in the wild, and few in captivity, it is the most endangered of Tiger species. |

Ruby, a female Giraffe, has arrived from Banham Zoo, where she was born 2 1/2 years ago and had been hand-reared after being rejected by her mother. |

Three West Africa Crowned Crane chicks have hatched, and are being reared by keepers using a special puppet designed to look like an adult crane so that the chicks do not think the keepers are their parent, and grow up to think that they are cranes. |

A total of 918 Short-snouted Seahorses have been born this year, and have now grown to the point that they are eating live food. Seahorses are notoriously difficult to breed, so this is a major achievement. The youngsters are being kept off-show, and once fully grown will be moved to various other collections around the UK as part of a captive breeding programme for this threatened species. |

A baby male Greater One-horned Rhinoceros called Ajang has been born, to experienced mum Behin and first-time dad Hugo. Great news for this Critically Endangered species, which is threatened in its native Nepal by poaching and habitat degradation. |
