Birth: June 2012

A baby Meerkat has been born to first-time mum Tillie.

Birth: May 2012

A baby Striated Caracara has been born.

Birth: 5 January 2012

Several recent births, including Cameroon Sheep, and a baby male goat to mum Riana.

Arrival: 5 January 2012

New animal species for this year include Northern Tree Shrews, which will reside in the Pets Area, and Banded and Dwarf Mongoose. Some of these have already arrived, but are being held off-show until warmer weather allows them to be introduced to their new enclosures.

Baby female Alpaca born, to mum Inka.

Baby Yellow Mongoose twins have been born, to mum Matilda. They are believed to have been born in July, but have only now started to emerge from their burrow accompanied by their parents. These are the first of this species to have been born at the Park.

Rosie and Sam the Ring-Tailed Lemurs have given birth to triplets - the first at the park and a rare occurrence for the species. Singles are the norm in the wild while twins are fairly common in captivity - Rosie herself has produced twins for the last 2 years..

Three baby Red Breasted Geese have hatched, the first of their kind to be born at the park for five years.

Seven Madagascar Teal ducklings have hatched, great news for this endangered species, one of 12 duck species on the endangered list.

Several peafowl chicks have been born, to two different mothers, and they can be seen following their mothers as they roam around the Park.

Two Rhea chicks have hatched, to different mothers. They are being hand-reared after being left to fend for themselves.

Twin Red-Handed Tamarins have been born, to parents Marvin and Michelle, who only joined the Park last year.

A pair of Capybaras, called Peggy-Sue and Boris, have arrived.

Twin baby Ring-Tailed Lemurs born, to parents Rosie and Sam. These are the first baby lemurs since the group arrived in December 2005.

Twenty four Guinea Pigs have arrived in Pets Corner.

Family of Kunekune pigs (mum, dad, and 4 piglets) arrived from Merrist Wood Agricultural College. To remain at Beale Park until September.

Two ponies, Bubble and Squeak, also visiting from Merrist Wood.

Five new Rheas have arrived to join the existing flock.

Four Prairie Dogs have arrived, and taken up residence in the old meerkat enclosure. They are to get a new enclosure in 2007.

The new Ring-tailed Lemurs' enclosure has now been officially opened.

Move: Spring 2006

The family of 4 meerkats have moved to their new, larger enclosure.

Birth: November 2005

Two rare Mountain Peacock Pheasant chicks born, making Beale Park one of only two facilities in the UK to have successfully bred this endangered species. The chicks will be reared in the Park until their first birthday, when they will be moved to another collection for exchange of bloodline, to help the international Studbook breeding programme.
