A pair of Red-Bellied Lemurs called Swali and Awa have arrived from Cotswold Wildlife Park. They have taken up residence in the Lemurland walkthrough enclosure with the existing group of Ring-Tailed Lemurs. |

A female African Leopard called Sheena has arrived from Santago Leopard Sanctuary. |

Asoka the 11-year-old male Lion has moved to Rome Zoo, as part of the European breeding programme. He will shortly be replaced by a 2-year-old male called Iblis from Planckendael Zoo in Belgium, to form a new breeding pair with Asha, Chester's resident female. |

Dolly the Zebra has sadly died from a degenerative liver condition. She'd reach a good old age of 21 and was the Park's longest-serving resident of the Zebra enclosure, having arrived in 1990. |

The three Lion cubs, Masai, Zulu and Louisa, born in May 2009, have moved to Noah's Ark Zoo Farm. One or more of them may ultimately move on to the Ugandan Wildlife Education Centre. |

A baby Douroucouli has been born. Also known as Owl Monkeys, Douroucoulis are the only nocturnal species of monkey. |

It has been announced that the Californian Sea Lions are to leave this year, to move to another collection in the Mediterranean that can provide large lagoons for them to live in. Their pool will be redeveloped to provide a larger home for the Humboldt Penguins. |

Two more male Crowned Sifakas, called Bafana and Douany, have arrived from Besancon Museum, France. They join the existing male who arrived last year, as part of the European breeding programme for this critically endangered Madagascan primate species. |
