Four Sumatran Tiger cubs have been born, to parents Tenang and Banda. Mother and cubs will be off-show for about 4-6 weeks to ensure they are not disturbed. Update: the cubs have now been named: Aryo (male), Bintang (male), Kemala (female), and Surya (female). |

A female baby Sumatran Orang-Utan has been born, to mother Subis (her 3rd) and father Puluh. This is also the second birth at the zoo in less than 12 months and brings the number of Sumatran Orang-Utans to 8 (the zoo also has 5 Bornean Orang-Utans). Update: the baby has now been named Kirana. |

Fifteen baby Dragon Fish have been born, the first time this highly endangered species has successfully bred in Europe. |

A baby female Debrazza Monkey has been born to mum Bamboo. She is being hand reared by keepers after a difficult birth, ending a caesarean section, left her mother unable to show the usual maternal instincts. It is hoped that she will rejoin her mother and the rest of the troop after a few months. |

Bili the baby Bonobo has moved to Frankfurt Zoo. Bili required extensive nursing and medical care during his first few weeks, and Frankfurt Zoo have trained a female Bonobo to assist with hand rearing babies. |

A baby Aardvark has been born, to mum Oq. If all continues to go well, this will be the fourth baby Aardvark to be successfully reared at the zoo - the previous three youngsters have all gone on to other zoos as part of the breeding programme for this species, which is becoming increasingly threatened in the wild. |

Two baby Gambian Pouched Rats have arrived. They are known in their native Africa as 'hero' rats because they can be trained to use their very sensitive sense of smell to find land mines. |
