A 3-year old male Greater One-horned Rhinoceros (Asian Rhino) called Patna has arrived from Berlin Zoo. He should be joined in September by a female from Switzerland. |

Cotton-top Tamarin twins born and doing well. Named Zambrono and Tolu, the twins are the fourth for parents Magdalena and Cauca. Marwell has been particularly successful breeding these little monkeys, one of the most endangered monkey species in the world, having now produced over 50. |

Baby male Bactrian Camel born, called Kamali, to mother Tibet. In the wild, Bactrian Camels are among the top ten most endangered species, with only about 950 surviving in Mongolia and China. |

A female Giant Anteater called Furai has joined the existing male, Gilberto, from Zurich Zoo as part of a recommended breeding programme. June 2007 update: Furai has settled in well and is now being gradually introduced to Gilberto, having been kept separate until now. It is hoped that they will soon be together permanently, and then breed. |

Baby Ring-Tailed Lemur born, 4 weeks premature. Update: now named Leonardo, he was rejected by his mum, who didn't know how to handle such a premature baby, and has since been successfully hand-reared by keepers and re-introduced to the group. |
