A group of over 140 baby Antilles Pink-toed Bird-eating Spiders have hatched. This breeding success means that the Zoo now has the tools for breeding the more endangered species of arachnid in the future. |

A baby male Javan Gibbon has been born. Great news for this, the most endangered of the Gibbon species. Between them, Howletts and Port Lympne hold about half the world captive population of this species, and with 25 successful births since 1988 are the world's most successful breeders. |

A young male Amur Tiger called Marty has arrived from Olomuc Zoo, Czech Republic, to join resident female Dominica.in the hope that they will form a successful breeding pair. Dominica's sister, Natalia, is shortly to move to Lisbon Zoo, Portugal, to join their resident male. |

A male Polar Bear called Arktos has arrived from Hannover Zoo, Germany. At 4 years old he is a similar age to the resident Walker. They will initially be held in separate, but adjacent, enclosures before gradually being introduced to each other. |

A 12-year-old male Grey Wolf called Lupo has arrived from The Scottish Deer Centre, Fife, where he was no longer able to participate fully in the wolf pack. |
