Two Black Stork Chicks have hatched, and are being hand-reared by keepers after the eggs were abandoned by their parents. Chester is the only zoo in the UK currently breeding this species. |

A female Andean Condor called La Maya has arrived from Nurnberg Zoo, Germany. She is to join resident male Mannie to form a new breeding pair, but the introductions are likely to be a long process as the birs get to know each other while carefully monitored by keepers. |

Three new species of Lemur have arrived in the Walking with Lemurs experience: Red Bellied Lemurs, Black Lemurs, and Crowned Lemurs. The new arrivals include breeding pairs, so it is hoped their numbers will be increased by the arrival of babies in the future. |

Three Eastern Black Rhinos, 2 females called Grumetia and Zawadi, and male Monduli, have moved to a heavily guarded reserve in Tanzania, for reintroduction to the wild. With only around 800 of this, the most endangered of the Rhino subspecies left in the wild, the trio will give the wild population a much needed boost. |

A female Amur Tiger called Bela has arrived from Lisbon as part of the European breeding programme for this endangered species. She will only stay for the summer, before moving on to Blair Drummond Safari Park. |

This year's baby boom of Owl chicks include 3 Snowy Owls, a Malayan Brown Wood Owl, a Great Grey Owl, and a second Turkmenian Eagle Owl. The latter is being successfully reared by its parents following their rejection of their first chick earlier this year. |
