A female baby Kafue Flats Lechwe (a type of Antelope) called Sethunya has been born. Unusually she is completely white, due to a recessive gene that occurs only in females, but not a true albino, since her eyes are blue, not pink. |

Moti, the 15-year-old Asiatic Lioness has sadly had to be put down, due to an extensive disease of her reproductive tract that was seriously affecting her health. It is hoped that a new lioness will arrive in the summer to join Kamal and continue the breeding programme for this Critically Endangered species. |

Five Humboldt Penguin chicks have hatched over the last couple of weeks: George and Tuxedo were born to Nautilus and Ebby; Bounty was born to Sam and Zippo; and Coral and Reef were born to Angel and Aslan. |

Two baby Sulawesi Black Crested Macaques have been born, to mums (and sisters) Kendari and Jude. The first for the zoo and great news for this Critically Endangered species. The sisters arrived earlier this year from Chester Zoo. |

A male Red Panda called An An has arrived from Warsaw Zoo. He joins the resident female Lushan, in the hope that they will form a breeding pair when he is old enough - he is currently just 11 months old and should reach sexual maturity at around 3 years. |

An 18-month-old male One-horned Indian Rhino called Samir has arrived from Stuttgart. This species is something of a conservation success story: a victim of habitat loss and hunting and poaching, it reached the brink of extinction in the late 20th century. The wild population has now recovered from 200 to 2575 and the species is now listed as Vulnerable in the IUCN Red List. |
