Description
Newham Grange has been a working farm since the 17th century. It is now also a popular attraction for families and school groups. It reopened in May 2010 following refurbishment of the animal enclosures, farm shop and cafe, and addition of the Willow Maze and a new play area.
The farm features many rare breeds of cattle, sheep, and pigs along with other farm animals such as goats, ponies, donkeys, poultry, waterfowl and rabbits. The pig units feature several breeds such as Gloucester Old Spot, Berkshire, Saddleback and Middle White, and include weaning pens where baby pigs are weaned onto solid foods. There are often new litters of piglets to see.
The farm also has exhibitions of the local Cleveland dialect and calendar, along with the farming history of the area, vintage farm machinery and crafts.

How To Get There:

Newham Grange Country Farm is located in Coulby Newham, on the southern edge of Middlesbrough and not far from the North York Moors National Park.
From central Middlesbrough:
Follow the A172 Marton Road south past the hospital to the crossroads with the B1380 (about 0.7 miles from the A174). Turn right here, and follow the B1380 Ladgate Lane south-west to the roundabout where it becomes the A1044. Continue across the roundabout onto the dual carriageway, and on the next roundabout. Turn left onto the A1032 towards Stokesley, and continue across the A174, where the A1032 becomes the B1365, to the next roundabout. Turn left here onto Newham Way (unclassified), then take the second turning left (after about 0.5 mile) into Wykeham Way. The entrance to the Farm is then at the end of this road.
From Darlington:
Follow the A66 east towards Middlesbrough, to its junction with the A1045, just after crossing the River Tees. Leave the A66 here, and turn left onto the A1045 Thornaby Road. Continue across the next crossroads (A1130 north), then turn right into Mandale Road (A1130 south). Continue on the A1130 through the next two roundabouts (left at the first, right at the second) and onto Acklam Road. Continue across the A19 roundabout, then fork right at the next roundabout into Mandale Road (still the A1130). Continue on the A1130 to its end at the A1032. Turn right at the lights and head south on the A1032 Acklam Road. Continue on the A1032 towards Stokesley across the A1044 (roundabout) and A174, and onto the B1365. At the next roundabout, turn left onto Newham Way (unclassified), then take the second turning left (after about 0.5 mile) into Wykeham Way. The entrance to the Farm is then at the end of this road.
From Hartlepool:
Follow the A689 and then A19 into Middlesbrough. Continue on the A19 across the River Tees and A66.Leave at the next junction, and turn left onto the A1130. Fork right onto Mandale Road (A1130) at the next roundabout and continue to the Farm as described above (from Darlington)
From Redcar:
Follow the A174 south-west around Middlesbrough, across the A172, then leave at the next junction (A1032). Turn left onto the B1365 towards Stokesley. At the next roundabout, turn left onto Newham Way (unclassified), then take the second turning left (after about 0.5 mile) into Wykeham Way. The entrance to the Farm is then at the end of this road.
From Whitby:
Follow the A171 west towards Middlesbrough, past Guisborough, to its junction with the A1043 at Nunthorpe. Turn left here, at the roundabout, onto the A1043, then right at the next roundabout onto the A172 towards Middlesborough. Continue along the A172 Dixons Bank for about 1 mile, then turn left at traffic lights onto Stainton Way, towards Coulby Newham. Continue across the next roundabout, then turn right at the second roundabout (about 1 mile from the A172) onto Newham Way. Continue on Newham Way, turning right at the next two roundabouts, then take the third turning right (after the second roundabout) into Wykeham Way. The entrance to the Farm is then at the end of this road.
