Description

The International Centre for Birds of Prey (formerly the National Birds of Prey Centre) is located between Ross-on-Wye and Gloucester, about 2 miles south-west of Newent. It is home to a large collection of birds of prey, one of the largest in the world in terms of number of species, including over 60 species of hawks, eagles, and owls. The centre is open daily, from the beginning of February until the end of October. There are up to three flying demonstrations each day, subject to the weather. How To Get There:

By Car

From Ross-on-Wye:

Take M50 north to junction 3. Turn right onto B4221, and follow it to Newent. Turn right onto B4216 towards Newent town centre. Take next turning right, signposted for the Centre. Continue past a school on your left, across a staggered left/right junction, and the Centre will be on your left after about 2 miles (from Newent).

From M5 north:

Take M50 south at junction 8. Turn left at junction 3 onto B4221, and follow it to Newent as described above.

From Gloucester (& M5 south J11):

Take A40 west towards Ross-on-Wye. Turn right onto B4215 and follow it to Newent. Stay on B4215 until the junction with B4221 and B4216 on the northern edge of Newent. Turn left onto B4216 towards Newent town centre. Take next turning right, signposted for the Centre. Continue past a school on your left, across a staggered left/right junction, and the Centre will be on your left after about 2 miles (from Newent).
